Burgers and Wisdom

In Reflection on April 11, 2012 at 6:58 am

I went for lunch with my grandma today. I am very very close to my family, I talk to my parents, grandma, and sister at least once a day. As much as I enjoy being a global gypsy, it is so wonderful to be at home and savor all the family time I can get. My gram is 90 years old, and amongst the things she’s collected in those years, is an awful lot of wisdom. She never ceases to amaze me with the things she comes up with. Lately, I’ve been reflecting upon my life and career choices and whatnot. I tend to re-evaluate my life fairly often, my theory is that life is too short to do things that make you unhappy. So, I often sit down and ask myself if I’m happy and if I’m moving in a path that makes me happy. If the answer is no, I change it. If it’s yes, I keep up the path I’m on. So today Grandma and I discussed life and choices and freedoms over tasty burgers at Bin 4. (life changing lunch menu, complete with celiac buns that are actually delicious, the brainchild of a local business man who is also a fabulous human being, I highly recommend checking it out!) She reminded me how lucky I am to have the freedom to do what I want. Even just fifty short years ago women got married, had kids and raised them, that was it! I live in such an amazing time and I am so grateful for that. But it also makes me feel even more responsible for doing wonderful things! Which I try to do daily if possible!
